Mary and William’s June wedding day was one of the most joyous celebrations I have ever experienced. I met them last fall while they were in the beginning stages of planning their New York style wedding at Thalia Hall. In case you’re unfamiliar, a New York style wedding reception has frequent periods of dancing in between courses. The band or DJ will play a set, then salads, then speeches, then dancing, then entree, then dancing, then coffee/dessert, and then… well, you get the idea. They were surrounded by loved ones the entire day, and it truly was something incredible to be a part of.

William and Mary met through William’s younger brother, Andrew who she ended up being paired with as lab partners her freshman year at Notre Dame (because they had the same last name!). As it’s the fate of many lab partners, theirs turned into a great friendship. After a couple years of missing each other (William was in Paris the Thanksgiving she met his entire family – except for him), Mary and William finally appeared on each other’s radar, and the rest is – well, you’ll see 🙂

From their first look on the Chicago Riverwalk, Mary and William couldn’t keep their eyes off each other (even when Lake Michigan had its way with us). They chose historic Thalia Hall for their ceremony and reception because they’re big fans of everything Land and Sea Department. How could I argue? The food, decor, and ambiance were top notch, and the ceremony on stage had the most romantic vibe. A pleasant complement to thunderstorms brewing outside.

Mary and William: thank you again for having me! Your wedding day was one I’ll never forget, and I wish you lifetimes of happiness together.
