Kate & Mike’s Spring Wedding at River Room

Kate and Mike’s River Room wedding was the perfect way to welcome spring in Chicago. This beautiful April day had everything I love about the season – budding greenery, the fresh scent of new beginnings, and the excitement of gathering outside along the Chicago River. Not to mention, this was my first wedding at River Room!

Mike started the morning at home with their cats, Russell and Cosmo. Remember these two from their sunrise engagement session last year? I was so happy they made another appearance! Kate got ready nearby with friends and family before we headed to Horner Park for their first look.

First Look at Horner Park

Their first look was one of my favorite moments of the day. Horner Park was just beginning to wake up for the season – seriously, the week before did not look like this! We took an afternoon stroll along the path enjoying the spring weather, Kate and Mike as happy as can be. I especially love when there’s time in the wedding day schedule to just relax and take in the day. Our time at Horner Park was exactly that.

River Room Wedding

That afternoon, friends and family gathered on the terrace of River Room to witness Mike and Kate say I do. The unseasonably beautiful April weather was the perfect backdrop for their outdoor ceremony, which was officiated by a friend. Once they said I Do, the celebration did not stop! Highlights from the reception include custom tattoos, local Burning Bush beer on tap, and their Beatles record guest book. As day turned into night, the glowing twinkle lights and reflection on the river made for the most romantic ambiance. Thanks to DJ Alli for keeping the dance party alive all night!
