Frente al Punto Wedding Editorial in Sayulita
In February, I teamed up with Amairani Thomason Photography for our long-awaited Frente al Punto wedding editorial in Sayulita, Mexico. And by long-awaited, let me give you an idea: Amairani and I met in November of last year at the Intrigue Designs floral retreat in Ireland. After somehow getting randomly paired together on multiple occasions, we not only developed a friendship, but learned more about each others’ skills and creative abilities. Shortly after the event, I asked if she’d be up for planning an editorial in Mexico with me! To my delight, Amairani’s answer was YES… and this creative project was born.
With only three months to conceptualize and plan the editorial, we got to work immediately. We were lucky enough to partner with Rebeca of The Wedding Mexico early in the planning process, and from there developed relationships with other local vendors. I was also thrilled to feature some fellow Chicago vendor partners, along with The McCall by Miss Hayley Paige!
Frente al Punto Wedding Ceremony
From the start, we wanted our Frente al Punto wedding editorial to celebrate destination weddings in Mexico in a meaningful way. Intentional ceremony choices included embracing the sunlight, playing with shadows, and a design that exceeded our expectations. Cascading florals in fuscia and citrus added a pop of color to the jungle beach vibe. Greta and Jairo traveled from Tulum as our bride and groom, and they absolutely delivered! The McCall fit Greta like a dream, and Jairo kept things timeless in black and white.
Mexican Wedding Traditions
After the ceremony scene, we transitioned into our second look. Greta wore a lace Bricolage gown paired with a colorful flower crown, one of my favorite details! We leaned fully into the destination experience during cocktail hour, which featured a celebratory performance by Mariachi Oliveros. We decorated the space with traditional adornos that I’d purchased from a local market in Oaxaca, along with more florals and unique furniture pieces.
Destination Wedding Reception
For the reception, the design team truly outdid themselves. A long wooden table anchored the space, framed by a hanging floral installation that gave both romance and magic. The cake from Postres Alba was just as stunning as it was delicious! Seeing this design come to life was one of my favorite experiences from the entire project. Greta and Jairo soaked it all in, laughing together and enjoying every moment.
A gigantic thank you to the incredibly talented creative team who helped bring our vision to life. Your time, talent, and passion made this experience absolutely unforgettable. I’m proud to have been part of this project with each and every one of you! I hope we have the opportunity to collaborate together again.
