Romantic California Vineyard Wedding | Emma Mullins Photography

In April, I had the honor of photographing Brigid and Ryan’s California vineyard wedding in Paso Robles. One of their favorite locations in California, it was an easy choice when deciding where to tie the knot. And it doesn’t take long to see why – from the quaint storefronts, endless wineries (shout out to Serial Wines), and temperate climate, what better place to gather their favorite people and celebrate! Nohemi, Jeremy and I were thrilled to pack our bags and head to California to capture their day.

The morning began with Brigid and Ryan getting ready in separate cabins on the property. Not surprisingly, they both looked incredible – Ryan in a custom sage green suit, Brigid rocking an old Hollywood look. I love that she wore her mother Sheila’s veil from the 1970’s! The light was soft that morning (a photographer’s dream) and I could not wait for these two to see each other.

After an emotional first look among the willow trees, we explored the property for portraits as guests began to arrive. The film photos from this part of their day are some of my favorites! As luck will have it, Mother Nature also decided to arrive around this time… and she stayed for the ceremony!

Romantic Ceremony Rain

That afternoon, Brigid and Ryan exchanged vows outdoors, surrounded by loved ones and the most romantic California rain. The weather didn’t stop their guests from gathering to support these two as they said I Do. Led by their beloved family member Kate, the ceremony was full of laughter, tears, umbrellas, and the realization that their first date was also held outside during the rain! It was a true full-circle moment that was so meaningful, I will never forget it.

California Wedding Celebration

The celebration continued into the evening with bagpipes, custom cocktails, heartfelt speeches, Alanis Morissette references, and yes – more rain. The day had not gone exactly according to plan, and that was okay. I couldn’t help but admire these two for staying present in every moment, no matter what! Seeing the joy on their faces, as well as everyone who showed up to celebrate them, made this one of the most memorable weddings I’ve ever been a part of.
