St. Lucia Wedding Editorial at Viceroy Sugar Beach
Our December editorial shoot at Viceroy Sugar Beach lived in my head for many months before it came to life. Fun fact: this was the first wedding editorial that I conceptualized, planned, and organized (with the help of other creative partners, of course) outside of Chicago. The idea was born from my past experiences at multiple Viceroy locations over the years – always exceptional – and a desire to explore the luxury of Sugar Beach. I knew it would be the perfect destination wedding location, and was thrilled when they agreed to host us!
This project features creative partners local to St. Lucia, a few favorites from Chicago, and our Real-Life Newlyweds, Alexandria and Cameron. Both Alex and Cam rocked three different looks throughout the day, which featured an off-site portrait location (and Caribbean weather)!
Sunset Deck Ceremony
Morning began with a light Caribbean rain while Alex and Cameron got ready in their suite. After a few poolside shots during a break in the weather, it was time to get these two ready for the ceremony! We made our way around the property for portraits, and finally up to the Sunset Deck. The ceremony scene was beautifully decorated with local florals and the surrounding landscape, overlooking the Pitons and Caribbean Sea. The tropical storm came and went – and right after Alex and Cam said I Do, we were greeted by the most vibrant rainbow! Truly, it felt like we were in a dream.
Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens
One of my favorite parts of this shoot was our detour to Diamond Falls. While the team at Sugar Beach transformed the ceremony to reception, I got to steal the Newlyweds for portraits in this stunning location! Their post-ceremony look was jungle-chic – a perfect mix of fashion and comfort in the lush gardens. We got to explore “the most colorful waterfall in the Caribbean,” and finally the aquaduct and waterwheel at the Old Mill Restaurant on property. Alex and Cam were soaking it all in, and these are some of my favorite portraits from the entire day.
If you find yourself in St. Lucia, this is a must-visit location! And YES, you can get married on the property.
Viceroy Sugar Beach Wedding Reception
When we arrived back at Sugar Beach, Alex and Cam celebrated their nuptials once again in a private poolside cabana. But first: cake! And champagne! We had so much fun capturing these moments in their evening fashion… I am still in awe of how beautifully everything came together. We ended our session with a night photo on the beach, the calm of the waves and ocean breeze all around. These two were a joy to photograph from beginning to end, and I’m thrilled we had the opportunity to collaborate on this project! If you haven’t already, check out their sunset honeymoon session from the day before.
A great big THANK YOU to all of the creative partners who came together on this project. Not only were you able to realize my vision, but exceed all expectations. This editorial would not have been the same without each and every one of you! In this industry, I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to work with such talent and creativity. This experience at Viceroy Sugar Beach reminded me why I love destination work so deeply.
Looking forward to our next adventure!
