Milwaukee Wedding at The Gage with Mexican Traditions – Miranda & Fernando
Earlier this year, I was lucky enough to travel to my hometown for Miranda and Fernando’s spring wedding at The Gage. As you may remember from their dreamy Milwaukee engagement session, these two are always a treat to hang out with and have in front of my camera! From our very first conversation, I was eager to see their wedding day vision come to life.
Wedding day began with Miranda and Fernando getting ready separately at the West Allis venue. Not surprisingly, every detail was perfectly in place when I arrived – and there were plenty of custom items for me to photograph! The morning was complete with a joyful first look on the staircase and champagne toast among loved ones. After some bubbly, it was time to head for photos at the Mitchell Park Domes! Miranda and Fernando were all smiles, and these are some of my favorite wedding party photos from this year 🙂
The Gage Milwaukee Wedding
That evening, Fernando and Miranda tied the knot surrounded by loved ones underneath the venue’s gorgeous skylight and chandeliers. Their bilingual ceremony included several Mexican traditions, mixed with unique personal touches designed by the couple. Once the knot was tied, the newlyweds were radiating with joy and ready to celebrate! Some of my favorite moments from this day include an epic sparkler exit with the wedding party and my first VÃbora de la Mar!
Miranda and Fernando: Thank you again for trusting us to capture these memories for you!! We had so much fun at your wedding and wish you two the Happiest Ever After.

Marie & Jay’s Summer Wedding at Milwaukee War Memorial Center
Marie & Jay’s Milwaukee War Memorial Center wedding last summer was one I’ll never forget! For starters, they were already married (surprise!)… which made finally getting to celebrate even more special. This happened to be my first hometown wedding since 2019, so I was extra pumped!
I met Marie and Jay (aka John) at their venue on a beautiful July afternoon. These two got ready separately with friends and family before seeing each other for the first time. When Marie and Jay told me they wanted to have their first look on the staircase of Milwaukee War Memorial Center, I was even more excited… you’ll see why! Not only has this venue been a fixture along Milwaukee’s lakefront for decades, its architecture is a photographer’s dream. After their sweet first look, we got to explore the lakefront area and Milwaukee Art Museum campus with their wedding party, dressed in red, white, and blue! We could even spot Harbor House from where we were, the place where Jay asked Marie to marry him.
Milwaukee War Memorial Center Wedding
Guests began to take their seats outside the venue, overlooking Milwaukee’s Lakefront. Marie and Jay renewed their vows in a beautiful ceremony officiated by a family friend. After they said “I Do” (again) – it was time to party!! The newlyweds enjoyed cocktails and conversation with their guests on the outdoor terrace, and the celebration continued with dinner and dancing throughout the night! I’m lucky I got to steal them away from their reception for a few photos on Calatrava bridge, my absolute favorite Milwaukee photo location 🙂
Marie and Jay: Thank you again for having us last summer! It was an honor to capture these memories for you and be part of this day. Wishing you a long and happy Married Life!!!

Wisconsin Wedding at Silver Spring Golf Club – Melanie & Brad
Melanie & Brad’s Wisconsin Silver Spring Golf Club wedding was as lovely as could be. With thunderstorms in the forecast, we got lucky with one of the first gorgeous spring days this year! Sun was shining, flowers were in bloom, and these two could not have been happier in love. After planning this day for over a year, Melanie and Brad were more than ready to tie the knot!
Their sunrise engagement session last fall was a highlight of 2018, and I couldn’t wait to return for wedding day. In true Wisconsin fashion, a little celebrating was in order after the I-Do’s! We took a quick detour to Sobelman’s for a few pitchers of beer and impromptu “Happy Birthday” serenade to a certain groom. This wedding party was seriously a blast – Jeremy and I had so much fun with this crew!!
I loved that Mel and Brad kept some traditional aspects of their wedding day while still incorporating small personal details and DIY projects. My favorites were their custom initials (made from books!) at the card table, “Cat of Honor” nod to their feline, Phoebe, and Brad’s Green Bay Packers cuff links 🙂
Melanie and Brad: Thanks again for having us in May!! Your wedding day was such a pleasure to be a part of, I wish you both endless happiness.

Summer Wisconsin Wedding at Hubbard Park Lodge – Jane & John
Jane and John’s Wisconsin Hubbard Park Lodge wedding took place on a lovely summer evening. Connecticut is their home, but because Jane is from – well, Janesville – they decided to make their wedding a destination Midwest getaway. Hubbard Park Lodge is one of my favorite spots in Milwaukee for a fish fry (and now weddings!), and not far from where I grew up. They always have my favorite beer on tap and there is never a shortage of polka music. Feels like home 🙂
I love when a venue can host both the ceremony and reception. Jane and John tied the knot on a perfect August afternoon along the Milwaukee River. A longtime friend officiated. Friends contributed with various readings and musical talents (seriously – they are talented!), and the officiant did a fabulous job keeping everyone on their toes. Jane wore a sash hand-stitched by her mother, including a single blue bead as her something blue. One of the most memorable parts of the ceremony was when Jane’s father stood up from his wheelchair to walk her down the aisle. Even though he recently survived a bicycle accident, he didn’t let that stop him. Of course, he received a standing ovation! I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a dry eye on the lawn!
After golden hour portraits Jane and John joined cocktail hour in the new beer garden on premises, and finally the reception. Friends and family said many beautiful words, gave hugs, and everyone present thoroughly enjoyed each others’ company. There was something about the positive energy in the room I’ll never forget.
Jane and John: Thanks again for having me in August! I’m so grateful to have captured these moments for you. Wishing you nothing but happiness in your future together.

Downtown Milwaukee Wedding at Charles Allis Art Museum – Kaitlin & Evan
Kaitlin and Evan’s Milwaukee Charles Allis Art Museum wedding hit home for many reasons. I get excited every time I travel to my hometown for a wedding… but this one was extra special. It’s not every day I get to photograph the wedding of an old friend!
As you may recall from their engagement session, Evan and I used to work together in high school. Since then, he has made a culinary career! Now Executive Chef of Easy Tyger Restaurant on Brady Street, he and Kaitlin met in culinary school. They have become inseparable ever since.
Family and friends traveled from around the world to celebrate with these two. Even though the forecast called for day-long thunderstorms, we were pleasantly surprised with sunny blue skies! Evan and Kaitlin were lucky enough to exchange vows on the museum’s lawn, exactly as planned. Afterwards, we took a stroll across the Brady Street bridge for wedding party photos and some sweet nostalgia 🙂 I’m not kidding: these two were all smiles all day!
Some of my favorite details include their wheel of cheese instead of wedding cake (you know you’re in Wisconsin when…). Kaitlin also kept the memory of her mother close by tying her antique wedding ring to her bridal bouquet. There is no doubt that both she and Evan’s late father were with us in spirit.
Kaitlin and Evan: I am so honored to have been a part of your wedding day. You two are clearly a perfect match, and I couldn’t be happier for you! Wishing you a wonderful future together.
