Taylor & Emery’s New York City Engagement Session
Last month, I was lucky enough to meet up with Taylor and Emery for their New York City engagement session! The timing could not have been more perfect: weather was mild and gorgeous, fall foliage was beginning to show, and these two were ready for a night on the town. After my coverage of New York Bridal Fashion Week, I was excited to get these two in front of my lens.
Emilio’s Ballato
We kicked things off at Emilio’s Ballato in NoLita, where Emilio himself welcomed us in the restaurant’s speakeasy. The ambiance was set with retro Italian tunes, vintage decor, and the smell of something delicious cooking, of course! The space was both intimate and stylish – practically begging us to order a plate of spaghetti and meatballs. I’m so happy Emery and Taylor suggested Emilio’s – not only do I love discovering new restaurants, it was a sweet and subtle nod to their engagement in Italy this summer.
Pro Tip: It’s no secret that getting a table at Emilio’s requires proper planning (and maybe some luck!). If you’re in NYC craving authentic Italian food and want to be treated like family, definitely do whatever it takes to snag a reservation here. I WILL be back next time I’m in NYC!
From SoHo to Pier 26
That afternoon, we strolled the streets of SoHo and the West Village for some candid, unscripted photos that captured the essence of NYC. Inspired by the city itself, we had a blast navigating through crowds and finding little photogenic spots along the way. When the sun began to set, we grabbed a taxi to Hudson River Park for the view! These are some of my favorite images from our entire session. Taylor and Emery were completely wrapped up in each other as the golden sky turned to blue hour, making my job easy!
Hotel Chelsea Engagement Photos
After sunset, we shifted into nightlife mode and headed to Chelsea. First stop: their local newsstand! Special thanks to the clerks for letting us take a few photos inside. We made our way toward Hotel Chelsea for some editorial shots outside the iconic location. In case you’re unfamiliar, Hotel Chelsea housed historical figures such as Mark Twain, Andy Warhol, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Patti Smith, Leonard Cohen… the list goes on. In fact, Carly Rae Jepsen tied the knot there just the week before! These two were a treat in front of the camera, and it was the perfect end to their New York City engagement session.
Taylor and Emery: Thank you again for this NYC adventure last month! I’m so excited about these images we created together. Your Chicago wedding next year is going to be awesome – I’m counting the days!!
