Moody Ireland Wedding Editorial at Markree Castle

In November, I had the opportunity to visit Ireland for an international floral retreat hosted by Intrigue Designs, Kay’s Flower School and The Flower Shed. The retreat consisted of three days of touring the Irish countryside, photographing landscapes, couples in love, and endless cascading florals. This post is dedicated to our first Ireland wedding editorial at breathtaking Markree Castle.

Castle Romance at Dusk

After traveling from Dublin to Sligo that afternoon, we arrived at the castle just in time to capture some moody daylight photos before dusk. Lyn and Karl looked absolutely stunning in their custom attire, and truly brought the romance. The bold red florals brought a pop of color to the moody scene and fall foliage. These two were a treat to photograph – we even enjoyed a private serenade by an Irish piper!

The weather also cooperated in the best way, giving us a perfectly dramatic sky just before dusk. We explored the castle grounds until dark.

Lush Florals and Candlelight

Inside the castle, the atmosphere shifted instantly – warm candlelight, historic stone walls, and layers of fabric and floral textures. Rich red and burgundy blooms created a lush, romantic vibe for the dinner scene. My favorite detail was live harpist Eimear Coughlan, creating the most romantic soundtrack for photos.
