Erick & Mónica’s Exciting Mexico City Wedding Day
Today I’m excited to feature Mónica and Erick’s Mexico City wedding day! Erick has been my Spanish teacher at Lengua y Cultura since January of this year, and I was thrilled when he asked me to photograph his wedding to Mónica. Together they are una pareja tan hermosa, the most kind and adorable couple. It was an honor to be part of their day!
Mexico City Wedding Ceremony in Lindavista
Mónica and Erick’s ceremony took place at Parroquia San Cayetano in the Lindavista neighborhood, close to their home. The church itself is absolutely stunning, filled with colorful murals and mid-century modern architecture. I know for a fact that one reason Erick and Mónica decided to tie the knot here was because of the picturesque setting! The traditional Mexican ceremony included family members, personal vows, and a newlywed rose petal toss.
Garden Reception and La Batucada
That evening, the celebration continued at a nearby garden venue. The energy shifted into full party mode, beginning with a choreographed first dance to The Proclaimers. Mónica and Erick nailed it! Loved ones gave their blessing, many kind words were spoken, and the dessert table was a highlight of the evening. I was excited to capture La Víbora de la Mar – my favorite Mexican wedding tradition! This was my first time experiencing this dance in Mexico, and it did not disappoint.

Another tradition that we love to photograph is La Hora Loca – or La Batucada if you’re from Puebla. This part of the night is always unpredictable, and gets EVERYONE up on the dance floor! La Batucada was complete with costumes, props, a smoke machine, and music that transforms the reception into a vibrant carnival. The energy was contagious, and there was no shortage of love all around.
Keep an eye out for our Mexico City Newlywed Session soon!
Mónica y Erick: Gracias por confiar en mí para documentar este día tan especial. Su boda fue una celebración tan hermosa, llena de amor y alegría. Les deseo toda la felicidad en esta nueva etapa juntos.
