Garfield Park Conservatory Engagement with 1920’s Speakeasy Vibe – Jen & Sean
Garfield Park Conservatory Engagement
Jen and Sean’s engagement session started at one of my all-time favorite places in the city: the Garfield Park Conservatory. Not only did they show up dressed to impress, but they were ready to dance! Fun fact: these two met at a swing dancing event years ago, and (their words) “have been dancing hand and hand ever since.” Awww!! I was so ready to check out their moves, and even more excited with the 1920’s pinup vibe that was happening. They looked straight out of a vintage film!
We explored all the best spots in the conservatory, marveling at the prehistoric plants while these two were adorable as can be. We took a quick dance break in front of the Zellij Fountain – the conservatory’s iconic mosaic art piece inside Horticulture Hall. Rumor has it there will be more swing dancing on wedding day… and if this was a preview, I know we’re in for a treat!
Vincent the Camper Van and Champagne at Deko
Our next location was across town in Lakeview, but we couldn’t hit the road without photos with their camper van, Vincent! I absolutely love this part of their story: Jen and Sean lived on the road with Vincent for almost a year, and actually got engaged while hiking in the Pacific Northwest! It was so meaningful (and super cool) to get to meet Vincent and commemorate his part of their story 🙂
Finally, we made it to Cafe Deko – the perfect endcap for this session. If you haven’t been, the space is full of charm and style… including a vintage Metropolis poster! These two made themselves right at home (champagne in hand, of course!). We were able to create some super fun photos together throughout the space, and I had a blast collaborating on the 1920’s-style vision. Seriously, sessions like this remind me why I love what I do!
Jen and Sean: Thank you for bringing a clear vision, incredible energy, and so much fun to your engagement session. Officially counting the days until your wedding next month!!
