K & Frank’s Summer Wedding Frolic at Firehouse Chicago
K and Frank’s Firehouse Chicago wedding last summer has a special place in my heart. I have known these two for many years, dating back to my bartending days! Truly, they are the kind of people who brighten any room – they always bring positive energy, and are simply a joy to be around. They’ve also been supporters of my photography career since the beginning – and owners of one of my original art pieces, captured on film.
Of course, when they announced their engagement, I was over the moon happy for them! When they asked us to document their wedding, I was even more excited. Although I would be in Mexico City on their actual wedding day, Nohemi and Sasha were eager to work with these two and document their day. Not to mention George, who was able to live stream their day so that their loved ones could view it from afar (including me!).
Firehouse Chicago Wedding
The day’s festivities took place at Firehouse Chicago, one of our favorite event spaces in the city. Fun fact: this venue used to be a real firehouse – complete with a Captain’s Room, firepole and all! The original tin ceilings and beautiful garden space make it one of the most unique locations to get married in Chicago.
K and Frank got ready separately, and after an emotional first look on the balcony, their priority was spending every moment being present with each other and with their people. One of my favorite details of their day were the live musicians – drummers to welcome guests upon arrival and original songs performed by their family member Dan! These two said I Do surrounded by their favorite people that afternoon, followed by an evening of indoor and outdoor mingling and activities.
Personal Details
Details to note include their summery fashion, handmade wedding bands (they made the rings themselves!), and planning a day that felt exactly like them. From the garden fairy vibe to their fresh matching tattoos and first dance to Pat Benatar’s We Belong, I would expect nothing else from these two. My team is so honored to have be there to document it all! We couldn’t be happier for them.
K and Frank: Thank you again for having us last summer!! Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together.
