Pooja & Matt’s Lincoln Park Engagement, Featuring Chicago Weather
Pooja and Matt’s June engagement session was a perfect example of Chicago weather keeping us on our toes. And honestly, I’m convinced it made the photos even better! From beginning to end, this session looks like the best of three different seasons. But Pooja and Matt were determined to showcase Chicago in their engagement photos, no matter what.
A Little Rain, A Lot of Romance
Nohemi met these two on a lovely June evening, with rain in the forecast. Though they started with an overcast sky, it didn’t take long for Chicago weather to show up. Nohemi did an incredible job of staying flexible when the rain started, while keeping the energy true to their vision. They even popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate!
Pro Tip: If rain is in the forecast for your wedding or engagement session, do yourself a favor and pick up some clear umbrellas! You will not regret it.
An Ending Filled with Sunshine
Before long, the rain passed and the skies softened into pastels over the lake. Next stop: North Avenue Beach! The city felt peaceful and romantic, and Matt and Pooja were soaking it all in. Then, to everyone’s surprise, the sun decided to show up! Golden light poured in just before sunset, with a few cotton candy clouds still hanging in the sky. In this moment, the city skyline view could not have been more stunning. I’m thrilled we were able to capture these dreamy, colorful photos alongside the romantic moments in the rain.
To recap: This session features overcast skies, moody clouds, summer rain, golden hour, and bright sun – all in under two hours. And by looking at the photos, you’d never know we didn’t plan every minute of it!
