Chicago documentary photographer Emma Mullins Photography

Hellooo, world!

I’m Emma: documenter, world traveler, cat-whisperer, and lover of all things beer and coffee. I’ve been documenting life through photographs for as long as I can remember. These days, you’ll find me photographing anything that tells a good story.

My favorite thing about working with couples is learning THEIR story! I meet people from all walks of life who have fallen in love, some who have gone to great lengths (and traveled great distances) for each other. I want to photograph you on your wedding day, and I want you to relive all those moments each time you see your images. This is your LIFE (!), and I strive to capture it as is – perfections, imperfections, and all.

Chicago has been my home since 2007, but in my heart I’m a true Wisconsin girl. I share a live/work studio in the Carroll Arts District with my designer-turned-handyman spouse and our two spunky felines, Rex and Miike.

Currently Emma Mullins Photography is booking weddings throughout the Chicago and Milwaukee areas and also worldwide. Elopements and destination weddings are my absolute favorite! Inquire about your wedding HERE

Emma Mullins Photography is also regularly available for portrait sessions, events, and other projects. Have an idea? Let’s be friends!

I am happiest when I create; let’s create something together.

Chicago Beach Maternity Session – Angelina

September is here, September is here! As it happens, this month will bring many changes. For some, that means parenthood. Photographing Angelina was an absolute delight! She is so excited for baby Vera – her first! – to arrive later this month. We met for our session at 31st Street Beach a couple hours before […]

Moody Engagement Session at Dusk – Eunice & Kyle

Eunice and Kyle’s Engagement session was magical in ways I don’t think any of us expected. Their connection is undeniable – I know they could make each other laugh for hours! Between a series of mishaps and the sky beginning to drizzle, all signs pointed to “maybe we should reschedule?” but Eunice and Kyle were […]

New York Style Wedding at Thalia Hall – Mary & William

Mary and William’s June wedding day was one of the most joyous celebrations I have ever experienced. I met them last fall while they were in the beginning stages of planning their New York style wedding at Thalia Hall. In case you’re unfamiliar, a New York style wedding reception has frequent periods of dancing in […]

Great Gatsby Wedding Styled Shoot / Hyde Park, Chicago

In the spring I participated in a Great Gatsby wedding styled shoot at a private residence in Hyde Park. This was not my first styled shoot, but it was my first time experiencing one this extravagant! Everything about the session was so well put-together, from the table settings to the hors d’oeuvres to the hair and makeup… […]

East Side DIY Milwaukee Wedding – Kaitlin & Evan

Kaitlin and Evan. Where do I begin?! Their Milwaukee wedding hit home (quite literally) for so many reasons. As you may recall from their recent Engagement session, Evan and I used to work together at the Fox Bay Cinema Grill while we both were in high school. Since then, he has made himself a culinary […]

Hello, friends and readers! How is everyone?? I’ve been busy lately – wedding season is off to a fantastic start and summer has officially begun. Looking forward to catching up on some posts! Rainy Day Logan Square Engagement Session – Kelly & Matt

Matt and Kelly’s Logan Square engagement session was such a blast! Chicago’s forecast called for rain at least a week before our session date – and to our surprise, that didn’t change. I’m so happy neither of us opted to reschedule – we embraced the weather, and – if I say so myself – had an awesome time […]

Sunny West Loop Engagement Session – Kate & Evan

I have known Evan for – let me see… fifteen years?! It’s true what they say, you know, about time. It flies! Evan and I used to wash dishes together as awkward teenagers at our part-time job in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Now that I think about it, he may have trained me on the job! Flash […]

Emily & John’s Vintage-Inspired Chicago Wedding at Salvage One

This year’s wedding season officially began for me in March, when Emily and John finally tied the knot. These two have been together for years, and a joy to work with over the past six months. My favorite thing about Emily and John is how obviously in love they are! Thanks for making my job easy, guys […]

Moment-Driven Workshop – Roosevelt University, Chicago

Earlier this month I participated in Chicago’s Moment-Driven Workshop, a recurring event organized by Candice C. Cusic of Cusic Photography. I signed up for the workshop months ago, with the intent that it would help me develop new skills while honing my strengths as a photographer. In this field we are constantly growing, and I still think […]
